What are patient/prescription assistance programs (PAP’s)?

If you can’t afford the prescription medications you need, you may be eligible for patient assistance programs. Prescription Assistance Programs, or PAPs, have emerged in an effort to help patients who lack health insurance or prescription drug coverage obtain the medications they need. These programs are typically offered by pharmaceutical companies to provide free or low-cost prescription drugs to qualifying individuals.

Can I fill out a prescription assistance program application on my own?

Yes, but before you do, beware of the process behind it. Filling out an application for a patient assistance program and getting to the point of actually receiving your medications can be a pretty lengthy process.
