Kisqali: Prescribed To Individuals Fighting Breast Cancer

Kisqali is a prescription medicine that is used to reduce and stop cancer cells from growing. It works to delay the progression of the disease when it is taken in conjunction with a hormone therapy or fulvestrant. Kisqali is a treatment for perimenopausal or postmenopausal women with HR+, HER2- metastatic breast cancer (cancer that has spread to other parts of the body).

Important Safety Information & Side Effects:

  • It has not been determined if Kisqali is safe and effective for children.
  • Serious side effects can occur which may include lung problems, QT prolongation (heart problem), liver problems (hepatobiliary toxicity), and low white blood cell count.
  • Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Patients should use effective birth control while taking Kisqali, as it may cause harm to an unborn child. Birth control should be continued for at least 3 weeks after your last dose.
  • Do not breastfeed while on this medication, as it is not known if it will pass through breastmilk causing harm to a nursing child.
  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while on this medication, as it may increase the amount of Kisqali in your blood.
  • The most common side effects of Kisqali may include nausea, diarrhea, neutropenia, infections, fatigue, leukopenia, vomiting, hair loss, headache, constipation, cough, and rash.
  • If you are a male taking Kisqali, you may have fertility problems.
  • Talk to your doctor about your medical history including if you have had heart or liver problems; or problems with the amount of potassium, calcium, phosphorus, or magnesium in your blood.
  • Let your doctor know about any other medications you are taking including over-the-counter medications and vitamins.
  • Notify your doctor and seek medical help right away if you begin to experience signs of an allergic reaction or serious side effects.

Is there a Kisqali generic available?

  • There is currently not a generic version of Kisqali available in the United States. Please note: Unreputable and fraudulent online pharmacies may claim to have a Kisqali generic, but the medication is an illegal counterfeit that may be harmful.
