Single Mother – Age 29
Julia is a 29 year old single mother who works nights as a custodian and as a server during the day and found it hard to provide for her 2 children because they all have a condition which caused the need for each of them to be on several medications to control the disease. Between monthly expenses, groceries, utilities and the $2,023.00 being paid for prescriptions each month, it was very hard for her to make ends meet.
Julia went to a scheduled doctor’s appointment to follow up on their condition and the doctor had great news for her. Dr. Brown had found out about Prescription Hope through a mutual contact and had begun to use the services for his patients. Excited about the opportunity, Julia asked Dr. Brown if he had contact information for Prescription Hope. Dr. Brown had already contacted Prescription Hope and ordered enrollment forms for his patients, so he gave three to Julia who completed one for each of her children and one for herself.
Within 4 weeks, Julia and her two children had received each of their medications. Julia saves over $1,500.00 each month through the Prescription Hope program. Julia explained that each advocate at Prescription Hope was just as helpful as the last. “When I initially called, I talked with Chris.” “He walked me through the details of the program and explained the savings I could potentially receive.” “Then, I spoke with April; she called me shortly after I mailed the enrollment form to them.” “She answered my questions and was very thorough, explaining the next steps.”
With Prescription Hope, Julia is able to provide a better quality of life for herself and her children, she doesn’t have to worry about whether or not she will be able to pay her bills and provide the needed medication for each of them, and even has extra finances at the end of each month.
“I have been divorced for 10 years and have been raising my two children for 5 of those years and many more years to go. I work two jobs, just to struggle to make ends meet. Without Prescription Hope, I would be afraid to see how the future of myself and my two children would be. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for what you have done for me and for my family.” – Julia
